SUMMER BEAUTY

Now that the sun is shining, our Nr 1 beauty priority is to keep skin nourished and hydrated no matter what. Here are the basics:

Natural UV protection starts from within, so give your skin a head start by loading up on yummy, pink and purple fruit such as blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. These contain polyphenol antioxidants & lots of Vitamin C, which help protect skin from sun damage from the inside-out. Orange fruits & veggies also pack a UV protective punch, as they contain carotenoid antioxidants shown to protect both skin and eyes from UV rays without interfering with Vitamin D synthesis; think passion fruit, pomegranates, apricots, mangos and raw carrots.

If some day you are on the go and all that raw fruit is too difficult, we have a great alternative: stir a TBLS of DANIELE de WINTER Beauty Shot in a small glass of juice - and your work is Done! Containing Blueberry, Baobab, Matcha green tea, Curcumin, Ginseng and other natural, antioxidant-loaded super-fruit extracts, Beauty Shot has a stellar track-record for protecting skin from sun damage from the inside-out. As one happy client told us < this is the first year my (bald) scalp has not burnt despite so much sun >

To protect your skin externally, apply DANIELE de WINTER 'SOLEIL PURE' SPF 50+ to sensitive areas such as face and chest and the gentler SOLEIL PURE SPF25 to the rest of your body until you have a good tan, after that coconut oil, which has a natural SPF of around 10, may be enough to protect your body from sunburn, while encouraging the synthesis of Vitamin D!

Lastly, get used to the sun slowly by sunbathing for 30 mins max for the first few days to allow melanin levels to build up naturally. A broad brimmed hat and light, floaty clothes are also a huge help!

PS. Try to avoid wearing sunglasses too much, as research confirms we need full spectrum sunlight to hit our retina in order for our brain to function at optimum levels. Dark glasses filter out important, health-promoting wavelengths, so can interfere with optimum cognitive function.
